Doing more challenging work….
June 26, 2007 at 1:19 am | In my interests, my work..., trainings | 1 CommentSince I got back from KL, I have been doing a very challenging work. One of our sessions in KL was about JOOMLA. It’s an open source content management system (CMS) where you can make a website. I was really fortunate to be learning about it because our website at work runs on joomla and my knowledge on administering it is very minimal.
And so when I got back, I decided to try my learnings on making a website for one of our annual congress which is the Mindanao Food Congress. I have been pestering a lot of people including Sam (our joomla facilitator in Malaysia and one of my AS2naut friends), Diane (also my As2naut friend from Manila), and Kuya Mike (my ate’s bf..hehe). I have been asking them questions about this and that, how to do this and how to do that. haha..sorry guys.. Well, thanks to them, I have so far made a website but it’s not yet fully done. I’m still enhancing the site and adding more data.
Will tell you guys when it’s done. But it’s just an amateur website. Don’t expect too much. hehe… ![]()
Bridging New Media Workshop
June 19, 2007 at 2:07 am | In my life..., trainings, travels | 3 CommentsSince I already made posts on how beautiful KL is, let me write something about the real reason why I was there.
I attended a 5-day Bridging New Media Workshop. It’s basically using the internet as a new medium in news/information dissemination and for promotions and public relations. We learned so many things there like Joomla, WordPress, Podcasting, Video Editing (which was so hard to comprehend..hehe), Marketing & Fundraising, etc. The Joomla and WordPress was the most helpful for me because our website runs on joomla and my blog runs on wordpress. Timing, huh?
All in all, the workshop was really great: learned so many things, got to meet some as2nauts, and met new more friends.

AS2nauts in Malaysia
June 15, 2007 at 6:25 pm | In Asia Source II, trainings | 3 CommentsAfter the AS2 gathering for OSHCA 2007, another set of AS2nauts gathered in Malaysia for the SEACEM Bridging New Media Workshop. I, Taibah (from Indonesia), and Anil (from Nepal) were all participants in the said workshop. Sam (from Malaysia) is part of the organizing team and one of our brilliant facilitators while Gayathry (also from Malaysia) was a resource person in one of the sessions. Fouad (from Pakistan) was also in Malaysia at that time so he was also able to meet with us.
Aside from the workshop, which taught me a lot, it was really great seeing each other again. AS2 bond is really something and AS2nauts will continue seeing each other as we continue with each of our journey.
the amazing petronas towers…and the giant me..haha
