The Dark Night Fever

Okay. I am not writing a film review here about the Dark Night. I just love the movie so much that I feel I really need to write something about it.  I think we all agree that the sudden death of Heath Ledger made this movie the most awaited Batman movie ever. I was not even aware that there is a Batman movie coming up if Heath did not die. I mean it was all over the news that it was his last movie so all the people who had loved Heath (which I think is a lot, including me) started to count the days towards its screening day.

First of all, I believe the movie did not fail these people. Well, it did not fail me! It was totally AWESOME! Before I watched the movie, there were rumors that Heath outshined Christian Bale. Well, Heath was indeed the best villain ever and the scariest one as well but Christian did great too. It’s just that the Joker role/character is more “noticeable”, especially with how Heath portrayed it, than the Batman role. Joker is loud, crazy, and scary compared to the quiet, kinda stiff, formal role of Batman. But in terms of justifying the roles, I think they both did great. In fact, all the characters did a very good job.  2 thumbs up!

But aside from the actor’s great acting, Chris Nolan also deserves a high five. He just made a movie that would nail the viewers on their seats and never blink an eye. There was never a boring scene and as my friend Jay said, it was not just a superhero story. It’s like everything is there already. Name it you have it.

There were also comments that the ferry scene was so unrealistic and that the people from both ferries should have blown each other right away. Well, the question is, if that was the ending of that scene, do you think it will be as good? I don’t think so. And the scene is not totally unrealistic. It can happen. A chaotic reaction would have been so ordinary.

I think whoever wants to do the next Batman movie should start planning already. They will have to reach the high standard set by the Dark Night.

Oh and don’t forget to smile…or else…

Now we don’t want that, do we?

Proud to be Pinoy…

I have been watching the news everyday and it never runs out of news about victories and achievements gained by Pinoys all over the world and in almost all fields: sports, arts, academic, etc.

The whole world is now aware of Manny Pacquiao’s recent victory againwilltowin_main.jpgst Marco Antonio Barrera. Mabuhay ang Pinoy! I watched that fight with my parents and we were shouting like we are part of Pacman’s clan. haha… Everytime Pacquiao fights, I see in him a man of determination and discipline, a very God-fearing man, and a very Pinoy at heart.

These are the qualities most of the Pinoy champions and achievers possess. These are the qualities that simply bring them on a pedestal. And I hope that these same qualities will bring changes to our dear country…if only all the Filipinos could possess and practice them… Hail to the Filipinos! :)

One act of random kindness at a time…

Does the title sounds familiar? I just watched “Evan Almighty” and that’s the statement of the movie. The movie was really not that comedic to me unlike Bruce Almighty but for me, it’s better than the Bruce Almighty.

It’s full of sense, very enriching and inspiring. It simply means one thing. We can all change the world by doing ONE ACT OF RANDOM KINDNESS AT A TIME. We can start by helping an old lady cross the street or by just being true and honest.

So let us all learn from the movie and start doing our own acts of kindness. But please let us not count but instead, just do it from the heart.  :)

To grow is to face changes…

Living and working in a place for several years makes that place the comfort zone of a certain person. Each of us has his/her own comfort zone, where we can almost do everything we want and where we get to know a lot of people whom we tend to depend on.

Generally, our true and original comfort zones are our homes where we grew with our parents and siblings. Eventually, majority of the children move out to study for a degree in college and stays in dormitories, apartments, and boarding houses, which also means moving out of their comfort zones.  At this stage, we slowly learn to live alone. Yes we still receive allowances from our parents but living on our own comes with great responsibilities. It’s either we learn easily or we learn the hard way but either way, growing is always there.

And so we study for a few years and then we eventually work in the same city after finishing college. We go to the same places and we see and meet the same people. Yep…we came to develop another comfort zone.

Leaving it implies exploration, experiment, adventure, and growth. We need to grow out of our comfort zones to face maturity and to be able to face life with more courage and confidence. We have to stand on our own. Thus, we need to face the changes that comes with it.

For us to learn and grow, we need to undergo changes and challenges in life. It may be really difficult at first but with perseverance and hard work, we’ll be able to attain the growth we have been searching for. Strong will and strong faith to the Above Almighty can make everything possible.

To grow is to face changes…

a love story for all…

For the 2nd time in my life, I watched a last full show movie last friday night. The 1st time was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This time around was very much different from HP…. together with my officemates, I watched ‘A Love Story’. haha

I’ve never posted a movie review-like post in this blog but there is always a first time.

The title “a love story” seems so simple, which we often use in conversations, writings, and even when we just think by ourselves but for me, it’s actually the best title for the movie.

The film is truly and without doubt a story of love. It’s not just romantic love but the totality of real love in general… love for the family, for your other half, for a lover, for best of friends. I suddenly remembered way back in high school when autographs were so popular. One of the famous questions is “what is love?”. If I will be facing another autograph right this moment, I would answer that question with “watch ‘a love story’ and you’ll know”. It’s basically all in there. And for the moral lessons of the movie, I would write:

To LOVE is…to give…to be patient…to forgive…to be responsible…to grow together…to sacrifice…to compromise… LOVE is not always enough to make things right

2 additional themes for the movie: (1) history repeats itself (2) always have a space in your heart for forgiveness

I highly recommend this movie… 2 thumbs up!
